Creative Captions 12/30/11: Back to the Future Edition!

Creative Captions Comments Off

In honor of my receiving the Back to the Future trilogy for Christmas this year, I find it only very necessary to feature a scene from it in this week’s Creative Caption! So, like the Christmas Vacation edition from two weeks ago, pretend you haven’t seen this scene, and try and come up with a caption for it! See? Fun! Go ahead! Have at it! Surely we must get some great one’s this week!

Happy Friday, my friends!

You can’t believe it, Marty! In the future, not only is there a Starbucks on every corner, but some are even open 24 hours! We could be sipping a latte right now!

It was just a couple of hours before I had to say my good-byes to my sister yesterday that the realization actually set in that she was leaving to go back to California today. Boo. We had been enjoying our time together so much for the last week that I became used to having her around. I guess it’s a good thing that her leaving was the furthest thing from my mind – up until it was time of course. I sure do feel sad that she doesn’t live in Colorado anymore. I guess this happens though. Not all siblings stay living close to one another. I wish I knew when the next time we’d get to see her would be…until then, I have these fun pics to remind me of our great times! I thought I might share them with you! Read the rest of this entry »

What Are Ya’ Doin’ New Year’s Eve?

Family, Fun Comments Off

I always said that when I grew up I would attend a very schmancy New Year’s Eve party. The kind in which I would wear a little black party dress and sip champagne out of a crystal glass. I would wear beautiful shoes-the kind I only dream about wearing the other 364 days of the year. My jewelry would glisten and shine and my husband would tell me how beautiful I looked. And, I would tell him how handsome he looked in his black tuxedo with wing-tipped shoes. We would enjoy a lovely meal, then dance the night away to a live band. And, at midnight, said band would play Auld Lang Syne  and I would kiss my husband and welcome in the new year with horns and confetti and cheering! If you could see into my brain right now, you would be viewing the New Year’s Eve party that is attended by Harry and Sally in my favorite movie of all time, When Harry Met Sally. And I wouldn’t even change what I was wearing! Read the rest of this entry »

Snow Day!!

Family, Fun, Pictures Comments Off

I think we’ve gotten more snow in the last few days than we got all winter last year! I’m serious! So, we wasted no time donning our snow gear and making our way out into the wintry wonderland!! See? Lot’s of fun was had!

Eli used to be so hesitant to step into the snow!

But not anymore!

Logan was busy right away preparing his snow pile.

He means business!

You can’t see it, but Eli is about to throw a snowball at his brother. He learns from the best!

They are ready for any attack!

I love when there is so much snow that I can pull the sled in the middle of the street!

So much fun! I sure got my work out that day!

Eli’s first snow angel! We had to teach him what to do!

But this tall one is Logan’s!

Dear Santa…

Family, Fun Comments Off

I have a lot of questions going through my head this week about Santa Claus. I know… shouldn’t I have been asking myself these questions 30 years ago? Should adults have questions about Santa at this stage of the game? Let me explain. Read the rest of this entry »

Peppermint Chocolate Truffles

Food, Pictures 3 Comments »

I tried my hand at building peppermint chocolate truffles this weekend and I think they came out pretty delicious! But, wow! One truffle goes a long way as they are basically very rich, very dense chocolaty goodness in one (big) bite! I got the idea for these from the 50 Edible Gifts mini book that came inside the December 2011 Food Network Magazine.  They were really easy to make. Would you like to see how it’s done? Well, here you go!  Read the rest of this entry »

Sonic Star

Family, Fun Comments Off

Reason no. 4,287 why it’s fun to have young children in the house:

This morning I discovered this new “ornament” in our Christmas Tree. I’m not sure how long its been there. Maybe just since yesterday (I hope not longer than that, because then I will feel badly for not having noticed it!). In case you can’t tell, its a straw from Sonic with a little metal star attached to the end of it. I would be remiss if I didn’t consider the post from Thursday this week Just Something Special Hangin’ Around . If you missed it, go ahead and check it out, then the rest of this will make more sense! :) If I were to add this new “ornament” to that post, I would most likely describe it as the most resourceful!

Creative Captions 12/16/11: Christmas Vacation Edition

Creative Captions Comments Off

Today I’m trying Creative Captions a little differently. Instead of finding a random photo of innocent folks who happen to have been captured in an amusing way on camera, I have collected a film still from one of my top most favorite Christmas-time movies, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. And, believe it or don’t, this film did win my poll question last week with a whopping three votes! Numbers don’t lie, my friends! Chris and I thought it would be fun to “rewrite” the line or scene from this film photo and see what fun comes of it! Ready….set….GO! (By the way, you can click on the photo to enlarge it!)

Made in China?! But I cut this tree down in the woods!!

Just Something Special Hangin’ Around…

Family, Fun, Pictures Comments Off

I try to slow down as often as possible to enjoy my Christmas Tree these days. Especially since Logan reminded me this morning that there are just 8 days left until Christmas Eve! Wow, that went fast! I sat down last night for a little while to just enjoy the tree and the ornaments and decided that they are so pretty and there are quite a few that have special meaning surrounding them! Don’t most ornaments hold special meaning, though? Places we’ve bought them. Handmade from the kids. Passed down through a generation or two. They make us smile, laugh, sigh, remember…I thought I might capture some of my favorites and post them here in a sort of “best of” list. Here’s what I decided upon. I hope you enjoy!!
