Do you remember my friend and co-worker that I often speak about? The one who went to pastry school? The one that might possibly have a fear of heights because of the pedestal that I keep her up on? Yes! That’s the one! Well, she is awesome because she gave me her recipe to make Chocolate cupcakes with Cherry Buttercream frosting and a Chocolate Ganache!
Let’s look up Ganache a minute…want to? According to dictionary.com Ganache is a whipped frosting or filling made with semisweet chocolate and cream, used for cakes, pastries, and candies. It just sounds so fancy right? Well, I made Ganache last weekend…along with the cupcakes and cherry Buttercream frosting!! I made them for some girlfriends of mine because I wanted them to know that I think they are special and deserve indulgent cupcakes! Read the rest of this entry »
Little did I realize that spotting an empty bottle littered on the side of a river bank with my kids Saturday would spark such an idea in me for a post that I hope hope hope my readers will participate in!
As the boys and I were walking around the downtown Denver area over the weekend, we found ourselves strolling along a side walk that lined the river that ran next to us. Along the banks was an empty bottle, in which Logan asked if we could go down to it and see if there was a message inside! While I enjoyed the whimsy of his request, I denied it because it was in fact an empty liquor bottle and not only that, but was very old looking, dirty and too close to the water for our comfort. But, this spotting did promote quite a fun conversation between us about what the message might say if there happened to be one… Read the rest of this entry »
Yesterday was one of those Colorado winter days in which the heat from the sun in the Mile High City made it feel like early Spring. Chris was in the promised land (Fort Collins) visiting friends, and I had just picked up the boys from an over night at my mom’s. It was just too nice-looking a day to simply head right back down to Colorado Springs, so the boys and I ventured up a little further north to the area surrounding downtown Denver. I had missed a turn off the interstate that I would normally take, so that took us to a little different area that we hadn’t ever explored before. The boys noticed the several bridges as we drove by and asked if we could please get out and go walk on them. So, we did! Read the rest of this entry »

Have a great weekend!
No matter how many times Vader showed off tricks using The Force, he just couldn’t manage to land the girl.
It was about 1:15 this afternoon when I was this close (picture my thumb and forefinger a nickle-distance apart) to asking Chris to go get the shovel from the garage to scoop Eli and I up. We were without any energy. And, I couldn’t believe that we still had an hour to go before picking Logan up from school. Was it the dropping barometer? Maybe. Was it the mighty winds outside that was making our sorts all out of place? Perhaps. Could it have been Wednesday funk? It’s possible. All of the above could quite possibly have been the culprit. But, with an afternoon ahead of me and a full night of work looming, I had to get it together! So did my Eli! Read the rest of this entry »
For President’s Day yesterday, we decided to take a little bit of our day off to conduct this experiment that I have been hearing so much about. It seems its popularity exploded a few weeks ago when I began noticing through social media, but then also from Steve Spangler – my favorite science guy that has a segment on 9News (my favorite news program out of Denver).
The experiment takes a look at Ivory soap versus other leading bar soaps and reveals the fact that it floats! The other’s do not. So, what happens when you take it to the microwave? Have you ever cooked a marshmallow in the microwave before? It’s a similar phenomenon where the porous inside expands when heated. Read the rest of this entry »
Two new shows premiered last night. On CBS we had The Amazing Race and on NBC there was The Celebrity Apprentice. Did you happen to catch either one of them? Do you care about either one of them? Read the rest of this entry »
This week has been one of great accomplishment for me. If my world were that of a video game on my WII, or an App on my smart phone, I may have collected several badges to recognize my achievements! But, alas, no proverbial screen here…just the real deal. A gold star sticker might just do the job if I can find one in our craft box. Read the rest of this entry »
Happy Friday! I hope this gives you a laugh! If you’re so inspired to leave your own caption, well, have at it in the Comment Section. I’d love to see what you come up with! Have a great weekend!
I don’t know what these girls are cracking up so much about! Don’t they know this isn’t a word?
I am realizing how much I can to with my new DIY Light Box! If it were a stuffed animal that had a long arm or tail with which I could drag it around with me to indicate the amount of love that I have for it and my desire to not be separated from it, well, I would do that. It would be clunky and would most likely break though.
The sense of urgency that I feel to get to Hobby Lobby to find various back grounds is almost insatiable! I digress…Here’s a look at the little bit we experimented with over lunch today. Read the rest of this entry »
