Logan chose to be Darth Vader this year for Halloween. I’m not that surprised – he was Obi Wan Kenobi last year and pretty much has lived Star Wars ever since he took off Obi Wan’s cloak 365 (or so) days ago and put on that of Darth Vader a few days ago. When asked why he chose to be Darth Vader this year, he said because he really likes him, he’s a Star Wars character and he is a really big fan of Star Wars. Here, take a look:
Over the weekend, I solicited some ideas from my family for upcoming blog posts. I was just curious to see what they would come up with – in particular, from my kids. Well, without hesitation, Logan suggested I write about Darth Vader. “Ok,” I thought. “I did ask for his ideas and this was the one he gave me.”
This morning we were fortunate enough to have a 2-hour late start at school due to a snow storm that hit last night. Over breakfast I asked Logan if he would please share with me 10 things that he thought everyone reading ought to know about Darth Vader. The following is what he said (in his words). I might take notes if I were you – its not beyond him to spring a pop quiz on us – just to make sure we were paying attention. He takes this business very seriously!
1. Darth Vader has special buttons to keep him alive.
2. Anakin Skywalker turns into Darth Vader. (Logan says this is important because his classmates sometimes want to be both Anakin AND Darth Vader when they are playing. He is a firm believer that there can be only one because the two are the same, actually.)
3. Darth Vader is a part of the Sith (the dark side) and works for Emperor Palpatine.
4. Darth Vader has the force – but none of the other Sith have the force because you have to be a Jedi to have it. But because Darth Vader was once a Jedi, he does have it. He is half Jedi; half Sith; half human and half robot.
5. Darth Vader breaths like this: (Insert heavy, deep breathing here). He breaths kind of wierd because of his helmet and his life system that keeps him living.
6. Darth Vader uses a red light saber because red represents the Sith.
7. Darth Vader probably eats at the Cantina on Mos Eisley.
8. Darth Vader has his own T.I.E. Fighter with secret blasters on it.
9. Darth Vader and the Storm Troopers fly after the X-Wing Fighters (flown by Jedi). Both air crafts have a hyper drive – so they are equal in speed.
10. Darth Vader fights like a Padawan (a Jedi in training) because he is kind of dead and doesn’t have that much skill anymore. He is kind of at a disadvantage, but he still wins battles.
Just for fun, since we were on the topic, I asked Logan which character from Star Wars he would invite to Thanksgiving dinner.
“Well, it depends,” Logan answered. “Is it a character from The Clone Wars or from the original series?”
“It doesn’t matter,” I say.” Either one.”
“I would invite Yoda,” he tells me.
“Why?”
“Because he’s the most powerful guy in Star Wars!”
“If Yoda came to Thanksgiving dinner, what dish would he probably ask for seconds on?”
“Turkey,” Logan says, followed by a giggle and this: “Like more turkey, I would!”
LOVE,LOVE,LOVE this because I’m kinda ( OK a huge) geek when it comes to Star Wars… Love the yoda/turkey reference because in my head I hear that
Thanks, Michael! I’m so glad you got a kick out of this!I think we’re all (even just a little) Star Wars geeks at heart! I mean, come on! It’s Star Wars!! 🙂
