Will Lionel Richie be mad that I used his song title for the title of this post? Is he a nice guy? He sure seems like it based on a lot of his lyrics….Anyhow,I’m sure that doesn’t matter. I won’t let my concern for Lionel’s like or dislike for my post title get in the way of me enjoying a leisurely Sunday morning at home with my family. It’s one of my favorite mornings of the week-especially if we are all here. Usually Chris is up and at ’em early and off to church to play his bass with the praise band (best praise band this side of Pikes Peak, if you ask me! And its not just because my husband is the bass player!)
But today is different. He let someone else man the bass this morning and we are taking a morning off. Hmmm, not like we are interested in taking a morning off from worship-and as a matter of fact, our sermon series these days is a good one, called, “Playing Nice With Others.” It’s about relationships. It’s actually really tangible and user-friendly. I learned last week that I need to practice grace on the interstate when someone cuts me off! Really? Where’s the justice in that? 🙂 You see, not so easy. And, for the past month or seven (it seems like seven, anyway) this eyesore has been parked out in front of my house blocking the mailbox and it was last Monday morning when I finally had had enough and announced to Chris that I would be the one to call and have it towed! I did announce that! I thought I would finally do it and do you know what he said? He reminded me of what we learned in church the day prior and asked me if that would be the nice thing to do…
Eyesore
Darn you, Chris DeZeeuw! I’m certain that it wasn’t nice of the owner of said eyesore to leave it parked out front for 10 months! But, I digress, because just yesterday morning, early, it was gone and now I can rest easy. Phew!
Sunday morning for me on this particular one, means holey jeans and a hoodie. It means an entire cup of coffee and the Sunday paper! It means my family is all under one roof. It means contentment.
Easy like Sunday morning
Then Sunday morning turns into Sunday noon. But it’s still easy…we might play some games, take a drive to Target (Target is to us what Sears was to the Bradys!), watch some March Madness…
We’ll make a nice dinner-maybe something we wouldn’t make during the week. Something that involves a little more TLC. Then 5 o’clock will hit and the daunting thought of 6 a.m. will creep into my mind, and as if it had face and was able to grin a sly grin at me, and I would say to it, “Darn you, 6 o’clock Monday morning, you are the bane of my existence!”
But, it still is a little bit easy, because I know that before me is a relaxed evening of watching Amazing Race with Chris and Logan, followed by Worst Cooks in America and then Celebrity Apprentice, during which time I will either a) Fall asleep on the couch or b) Pin any number of things on Pinterest.
But I do love a Sunday like this. I won’t be around next Sunday to do what I’m doing today. I will be in California galavanting around with my sister and the landscape will look much, much different. So, until the next easy Sunday, I hope you are, too, enjoying your’s!
Cheers!
