Did you know that the Colorado Balloon Classic is the largest and oldest continually running air show in the state? And, by the way, is one of the three largest air shows in the country! Way to go Colorado Springs! We decided at bedtime last night that we would arise at the break of dawn this morning, like the rest of the thousands of everyone else in the city. I realize that so many people arrive at the Classic even while it is still dark outside. We are not like that. No matter how hard we try, we seem to not be able to get out of the house with enough time to get us to there without having to run from our parking spot to the launch site before they all lift off. Try as we might, it just doesn’t happen. This morning I think we arrived a little later than normal, but I felt sure they lifted off early. (Wink wink, certainly it was them, not us!!). See what the boys had to say about their experience…
Me: So, Logan and Eli, what was your very favorite part of the Balloon Festival this morning?
Logan: I really liked seeing the robot (Marvin the Martian) one take off. But most of all seeing all the balloons, together.
Eli: Purple
Logan: I liked the purple one, too, Eli!
Eli: No! That’s my favorite part! I liked the purple one!
Logan: I know, but I liked that one, too!
Eli: No! You didn’t like the purple one, I liked the purple one!
Chris: I just liked watching them lift off.
Me: Me too!
We concluded the events of the morning by having a healthy breakfast at McDonald’s. We do that once a year, I know this because the last time we ate breakfast there was last Labor Day. Thank you, McDonald’s for a greasy hash brown patty that melts in my mouth. Be still my heart…See you again next year!
Happy Labor Day!
