I can always find something better to do than clean my bathroom. And, if I’m being honest, I often just get ready as quick as I can in the morning, then steer clear of the area for the rest of the day so as not to remember the unsightliness that I have in fact been avoiding – a room that should be a place of leisure and whatnot. I’m not talking about the john, by the way. Just the part with the shower, tub and vanity. I was cursing the new IKEA catalog recently when I saw their beautiful bathroom displays. Yes, gorgeous, but this room will get dirty and you will still have to clean it! Here is what I did to turn a bathroom frown upside down:

1. Go to Target and buy this. It is on clearance right now for $9 and comes in a variety of designs. I happen to prefer whimsy!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. Clean your bathroom. I’m sorry, but for me, I simply couldn’t put beautiful new décor on top of bathroom grime! I thought I’d spare you the photo-but do believe these words: It was icky.

3. When your bathroom is as clean as you like it make sure you pick a very appropriate spot and get a good look before applying your new décor.

4. Delight in your new-looking bathroom and realize that it only takes $9 at Target to send you on a whirl wind of bathroom cleaning. (That’s not entirely true, I will need new decals from Target for the rest of the bathrooms in the house to boost my motivation to clean them!!). Whatever it takes, I always say. I actually don’t always say that! I wonder what they have for the boys?
