Farmers Markets are full of lovely!

I might be a little embarrassed to admit this, but it wasn’t until a few weeks ago at Whole Foods that I realized how beautiful produce is-good produce of course!
I am a big fan of food styling and photography anyway, and if you know Chris and I, we’ve been dabbling in it ourselves quite a bit. Maybe before that moment at Whole Foods, it had only occurred to me to take photos of food already brought into my house or that I ordered at a restaurant.  So, to my untrained eye, it was as if  I had an epiphany and then realized there was all this beautiful fruit and veggies right here in front of me! I whipped out my camera that day and shot a few pictures of my now favorite cherry tomatoes! Here’s the epiphany picture.

Needless to say, my eyes are peeled now for local farmers markets, because its good to support local farms, etc…BUT, also for the photo ops! I need all the practice I can get!

I love the colors on this one, but it get’s better!

“Summertime!”

So pretty and vibrant! These are the boy’s favorite!

They liked being there, too!

Eli and I hit up another Farmer’s Market this morning. This was one at Memorial Park, the one in which Logan and I frequented every Thursday around two or three years ago. We’d buy our Rocky Ford cantaloupe, Palisade Peaches and maybe some green beans, but mostly we were excited for the chocolate or blueberry croissants from La Baguette, a sweet french bakery here in town.

Today, however, Eli and I learned about dessert pasta, white truffle oil (in which I tasted and it decided it is quite potent, but I can appreciate it, for sure), and the difference in heat between different Anaheim chili peppers. Eli helped me pick out cherries and peaches. While photo ops were aplenty, I definitely felt inspiration for upcoming meals in the DeZeeuw household (stay tuned!).

Quite honestly, I never knew there was such a long stem on onions! Woops!

Do you know what these are? I don’t. I wish I did though…

I’ll shout it from the mountain top! I love zucchini and yellow squash on the grill!

Nectarines, not peaches.

Such a beautiful color! Why do I think about Mister Rogers Neighborhood when I see this? Seriously. I don’t eat it, but I remember it from Mister Rogers.

Red peppers are my least favorite of the bell pepper family. But they do look irresistible don’t they?

These Poblanos don’t know it yet, but they are headed to my grill on Sunday!
