One of my favorite things about mothering boys is Legos! I never played with them much growing up because, well, I was (ahem, AM) a girl and I never remember them being popular among my kind. So, now that I am blessed with two guys, Lego has worked its way into an ever present theme among our family and, well, our entire lives in general. And, you better believe Chris is a proud papa in the matter as well!
This past weekend we were fortunate enough to be able to attend Lego Kids Fest at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. This was an almost 5-hour-long extravanganza with more Legos (according to Chris’s opinion) than all of Legoland itself! It’s possible, he has an eye for these things. But, here’s why he thinks this. Lego Kids Fest was entirely hands on, with piles and piles and piles and piles here and there and over there and back there of Legos to build and create and sleep in and crawl through…So, without further ado from me, take a look for yourselves! I threw together a lot of pictures for your enjoyment.
When we first arrived, Eli scored this fashion accessory!
They had a huge Creation Nation, where Lego – goers could create absolutely anything of any size to go any place inside the outline of the United States. You can kind of see it behind the sign here.
Eli created this house.
Eli’s was placed somewhere in Washington, I think.
This was Logan’s. I think it was a house too! His was placed in Texas!
This is a mighty Hero Factory display! Two of my guys were pretty jazzed about it!
Lego Ninjago brings out a very fearsome side of Logan…
And, evidently a sly side to Chris!
We built race cars out of Legos and got to speed them down these ramps!
It’s not beyond me to rock a Lego hat! Lego Mama!
Then we created our own Lego Master Pieces to hang in this Lego Art Gallery!
In case you thought that Chris made the owl…well you would be wrong. It was me. I just wanted to clarify!
Cool Daddy Chris
A Lego Friend
Like I said, Lego Ninjago brings out Logan’s fearsome side…
I think he fits right in!!
Especially with Eli as his side-kick!
We loved all of these life-size Lego statues!!
And some we could peek through!
Who would have thought it? Lego Jack Sparrow!
Or Chewbacca?
Lest we forget these two!
You might imagine Eli’s excitement over this one!
Quite a size difference, here!
This was the massive pile of Legos. It was a Lego free-for-all! I wonder if I can adequately illustrate how big it was! I can’t.
But people were burying themselves in it! Hundreds of people!
Lego Mania!
You might imagine that we would agree to go back next year, should we be lucky enough that it come to Denver! It was amazingly put on and perfectly executed. Fun for all of us!
Long Live Lego!
