My friend approached me yesterday by saying, “So! You’re back from the land of glitz and glamour!” Why, yes! I am! (And, if you aren’t aware, I spent a long weekend in L.A. visiting my sister a week ago). It’s already been a week since my return and Spring Break fit snuggly right there in between then and now. Glitz and Glamour! Well, not the whole time! But, we had a blast! Let me show you a couple of highlights!
As planned, we lunched via food truck on Friday. Not only did we find one…but I assure you they were lined up along a whole city block!! Probably a dozen of them!
You see? I wouldn’t kid about that! The two hardest things about this experience was deciding which truck to eat from and finding the restraint to not go back for more!! I think this is what Heaven is like. The streets of gold are lined with food trucks! Yes!
That’s me, peeking around one of these street lamps at the Urban Light exhibit outside the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. They actually turn on at night! Wouldn’t that be cool?
We also visited the Getty Center where I took this gorgeous photo that, upon my return home, became my phone and computer wallpaper! Perfect for spring!
I felt like this last night after Chris made us a big dinner of grilled pork chops, mushrooms and asparagus, salad and rolls! Oh yea, and peach cobbler for dessert! But I was that happy, though!
But seriously, these were taken at the Getty Center after my sis (that’s her!) and I were summing up this sculpture and a woman suggested we strike this pose! So funny!
Later that day we prepared to go see the opening – day – show of The Hunger Games. We went in style — making our very own tee shirts!
Here’s a better look. That’s puff paint in all their glory, my friends!
We’ve made a tradition of renting bikes and riding them along the beach. We’ve done it both times I’ve visited her. This time we started at Santa Monica Pier and made our way six miles round trip down to Venice Beach and back!
Lastly, but by no means less important…we spent Saturday evening all dressed up at the Magic Castle. This was one of the coolest places I’ve ever been. I longed for my husband to be able to see it too! But, the gist of it is that it is a very old mansion that became a venue for renowned magicians to perform at. With theater room upon theater room holding up to around 30 guests in each, every half hour throughout the course of an evening there are different magic shows to be seen. Close up magic, mind you. This bottle is what a young magician pulled out of a folded up piece of paper-yes, that’s right! Complete with the card that my sister had guessed all tied up in a bow! So, he signed it for us. The bottle came out of a folded up piece of paper! Phew! Crazy!
As always, my sister and I know how to have a great time together. But, there is just one more thing that we did. And, it deserves a whole post, too! Alas, it will have to come tomorrow! But, if you are so eager to know, I will leave you a hint! Unscramble these letters and you will know ahead of time what the post will be about! Good luck!! See you back here tomorrow! 🙂
D L E P A D R B A O D GYAO
P.S. If you happen to be my family or close friends that I chit chat with regularly, I love you, but you are exempt from this little game. I know! I’m sorry! I will make it up to you!
paddle board yoga…sounds like something you’d take a venture at!!
Well done, my friend!! 🙂 You are the winner! 🙂
I have to get to the Magic Castle. I have lived in LA my entire life and never been there.
Hey Jack! I highly suggest the Magic Castle! Find a way to get there, my friend! Two things I recommend: 1) Arrive early so that you don’t feel rushed to fit in all of the different magic shows in one night 2) Try very hard to see Jon Armstrong. He is a very rad dude. He’s the creator of Smoke and Mirrors, a comic book series where magic actually occurs in your reading of it! Cheers! And thanks for coming by!
