New Suede Shoes

Have you ever been so tired that you feel like your eyes are sliding down your face? That’s how tired I am today. And, I think I should be having a hard time typing right now because it feels like my eyes are sitting right below my cheek bones.

Much sleep was not had in my house last night. The long and short of it is as follows:

11 p.m. I got off work.

12 a.m. I fell asleep.

12:45 a.m. Chris and I were awoken by a shouting Eli.

12:45 a.m. to 1:45 a.m.  We traded nurturing visits to and from Eli’s room to help him fall back asleep.

2 a.m. I started falling back asleep.

2:15 a.m. I was again awoken, by Logan this time, who had a bad dream.

2:2o a.m. Falling back to sleep.

6 a.m. Alarm wakes me up for another day!

Please don’t misunderstand, I’m not seeking pity, this is part of the gig. I’m grateful this happens as infrequently as it does! But, I tell you all this because it is the only reason that I can come up with to explain my lack of judgement and/or restraint while shopping at Target this morning.

You see, I went to Target with Eli with the sole purpose of finding a little button up sweater or cardigan to wear over the dress that I plan on wearing at Chris’s cousin’s wedding in Orange City, Iowa this weekend. The dress is a simple A-line form…hold on, do I know what an A-line is? Let me look. Be right back.

Ok, good thing I looked. Turns out I may not be as female as I claim to be! The style is evidently empire. Nevertheless, it is a taupe-colored halter style around the neck and comes down to my knees.

I saw plenty of very promising cardigans. Very cute styles and a variety of colors, but then something caught my eye. It was a new clothing display with the name “Missoni” all over it. The clothing flaunted vibrant colors in bold patterns with lovely fabrics and some sweater material. I couldn’t help but be drawn to it! It was like nothing I had ever seen at Target before. And, there were other women kind of really hovering about this area, collecting garments up and placing them directly in their shopping carts! Interesting… But, then, a certain pair of shoes caught my eye across the aisle. These, to, had the name “Missoni” on them and they were one of three styles of shoe on this end display. I couldn’t keep my eyes off them. “Eli,” I whispered. “Don’t you just love these shoes?” I think he said he did, but he was more interested in the Halloween hats and head accessories nearby. I tried some on and fell in love with them and was extra excited because they had the color taupe in them-same as my dress. I gathered them up, my heart pounding. “These are not a cardigan,” I told myself. “But I don’t really need one, anyway…”

Eli and I made our way back toward the Missoni clothing collection to peek a little more, when my curiosity got the best of me and I asked two women what the deal was. “Excuse me, girls?” I asked the one. “What is the story with this clothing collection, I hear you visiting about it and gathering it up?”

Well, the one began giving me a full report, that this brand is quite famous in Italy and very expensive there. But the company has since paired up with Target to sell its brand at a discounted price. The line evidently just premiered today, hence the flocking of the women.  I actually remember looking for a Target name tag on her, as she seemed like a very knowledgeable employee! The girl went on, gathering up a price tag in her fingers, “See this one?” She asked me. “Fifty dollars here, it would be well over $100 in Italy.”

Well, whooptie dee for me! I walked into a special day at Target and didn’t even know it! I found an otherwise very expensive suede pump available in my price range. Want to see what they look like? Ok. They are even fancy on the inside!

Here’s what the tag on them said, “Patterned after no one. Priced for everyone. Since 1953, the legendary Missoni fashion house has been known worldwide for its eclectic mix and match patterns, colors and textures. Now, Missoni brings it iconic Italian lifestyle to you, with the exclusive Missoni for Target collection.”

Fashion House. Iconic Italian Lifestyle. Legendary. Eclectic. Such power words. I can’t help but have high expectations for them! I don’t need a cardigan anymore! No. I’ll be wearing Missoni shoes.

Hope to see you sooner rather than later! Btw, that marble macchiato was AMAZING. I had never had one before, but now it’s my new fav. 🙂
