Orange City: A Day in Photos

I come back empty-handed as far as my mention of having the meanings of some dutch words for you. But, I did go to Woudstra’s Butcher Shop and ate a slice of dried beef. That’s got to count for something, right? It tastes best on a buttered rusk bun, but I had no buttered rusk bun. But, I still had to taste it because it is so good and salty. By the way, remember last night, by the end of dinner, Glen and Carolyn had run into five people they knew from Orange City already? Well, by the end of the day today, 24 hours after we arrived, the number has gone up to 14!! We met a lot of people today.

Please enjoy our day in photos:

Our day started out here. Can you pronounce this?

Inside were these men who must meet here regularly. Dare I suggest daily? Two of them were Glen and Carolyn’s old neighbors!

I don’t know what this is. But the guys got to climb up in it and that was fun!

Had the Koffie shop been open right here, maybe we would have used this cute table and chairs to enjoy our Koffie at!

An actual butcher shop.  Cool.

I’d buy pork there, for sure!

I’m not sure he’s ever climbed a tree on a sidewalk before. They hadn’t made it to the playground yet, is it that obvious?

This is the phone booth!

I went all the way to Orange City and was swallowed by a fish!

This is where we’re staying. It’s a hot spot this weekend!

This is part of the farm that Glen grew up on!

This is it from afar.

The boys made up a song today called, “Big Wooden Shoe.” It goes a little something like this: “Biiiiig Woooooodennnnn Shooooooooe….” Repeat.

Some how, I haven’t seen farms like this in Colorado. I’m not saying they aren’t there, I just haven’t seen them yet. I like Iowa farms.

The boys got a souvenir today! Slipper Klompen!!

Good night from Orange City. I’m full. But can I have another Almond Patty tomorrow?
