I had the very special honor last week of baking cupcakes for a friend of mine. But not just any cupcakes for just any occasion! You see, she is expecting a baby in December and my assignment was to bake cupcakes with either blue or pink frosting hidden in the middle depending on the gender of the child! That way, when all of her friends came together for the Gender-Reveal Party, they would bite into the cupcake and squeal in delight upon seeing the color that was inside!
How lucky was I to be able to gain such special intel ahead of everyone else! I decided to make lemon cupcakes so that the color on the inside would surely not be muddled by any other color.
Here are my two piping bags-one with the colored frosting for the inside and one for the lemon cream cheese frosting on the outside!
Surprise! It’s a girl!
I used just a tip of a tooth pick’s worth of the pink coloring and it made the frosting this bright pink! Good thing I didn’t use more!
Using a tube that a candy thermometer came in, I took out the inside of each cupcake and filled it with pink!
By the way, it was hard to try and keep this from Logan, as the kids would attend the cupcake party as well. But he swore to secrecy!
Then, I piped the white frosting onto the top of each one and completed it with a lemon gummy candy. No one would be able to tell what was inside! 🙂
And they couldn’t either! Not until the first bite was taken!
This is my friend, Patty, who is having the baby girl. I think she looks pretty happy, don’t you? It was a really fun Gender-Reveal Party!
This tiny girl enjoyed it too!
Congratulations, Patty! Thanks again for letting me play such a special role in this!
