It’s February. I welcome a snow storm! We didn’t get a single one during the month of January. In fact, the last time I remember any snow worth calling it that, was the week before Christmas, even! So, when it began snowing Thursday night (approximately 36 hours ago) and didn’t stop until sometime during the last six, I was loving it! The snow day yesterday equaled heart-shaped chocolate chip pancakes, all day jammies, movies, playing…a great snow day home from school.
But then it was time for me to leave for work in the thick of it. Bummer. And, for such a storm, one that caused many of the shops in the center where my Starbucks store is, to not even open yesterday, we were surprisingly busy! I couldn’t understand our customer’s desires to be out in such inclement weather! I wanted to tell them to go home! I am reminded of Adam Sandler in the movie, Happy Gilmore, when he speaks to the putt-putt golf ball, encouraging it to roll into the hole, “Go to your home!” He implores. “Don’t you want to go to your home?”
This is what it was like outside when I headed home last night at 11.
All this to say, I delight in a winter storm…it is winter after all, let’s act like it, Colorado! (Snow in January and February is rare here if you didn’t know this-it usually waits until March and April – AFTER Spring fever sets in and then it’s bad.) However, we had planned a trip up to Summit County today to see some ice castles. Summit County is some two-and-a-half hours from here, up near the ski towns. We postponed our original trip back on MLK Day because there was snow up there, but not down here. Today, there is snow down here, but I don’t think the storm hit so bad up there. This might mean for a concerning drive en route from here to almost there. Is it worth it? Well, ask my husband cause he’ll be driving. The storm has seemed to stop and the sun could be our ally if it comes out soon enough. Here’s the site for the ice castles so you can see what I’m talking abut: Ice Castles My sense of urgency comes from the fact that today is the last day we could do it this year. Stay tuned.
Anyhow, I am actually writing this post to give you a chance to get caught up on the week we just had, in case you missed something. But, I’m finding that my Weekend Refresher is becoming the one time each week that I think I give myself an open forum to write about whatever I want-not a given topic. So, if you’re still with me, then you, my friend are a true one at that! Thank you.
The blog week last week started with a yummy meal on Sunday!

Clay Matthews, Aaron Rodgers, stinky jersey? It’s not too late to add your own caption, you know!
Happy Super bowl everyone, if you’re watching it! Otherwise, have a great weekend! Thanks for reading! <3
I think I’m going to try for the super lasagna next week, and I think it’s hideous that Madonna is doing the Superbowl. Isn’t she a little old and retired?
Hey Amberr! Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you like the lasagna. You’ll have to tell me what you think of the cheddar and the season salt. Have a good week, lady!
Madonna did splendid on Sunday. Much better than I expected. She looked great and I think chose good songs. Much better than some of the bands of the last few years that I was really looking forward to and did not look or do so well.
Hi Marsha, I agree! I thought Madonna was delightful and fantastic! I was surprised actually, too! The best performance during half time in quite a long time! Thanks for saying hi! 🙂
