Who’s this Jen Blossom?

Cozy on up, friends. I’m gonna tell you a story…

Once upon a time there was a 16-year-old me who worked as a courtesy clerk at Toddy’s Supermarket in Fort Collins. People who worked there thought that 16-year-old me was sort of cute and therefor dubbed 16-year-old me, “Jen Blossom,” after the then-popular band, “Gin Blossoms.” It was funny and endearing. The End…

But not really the end. That was 20 years ago. Those people then were my age now!!

I never would have predicted  that the nickname Jen Blossom would surface again as a name for my current business venture! As you may or may not know, I have been dabbling in the creation of button flower arrangements for the last few months, now. I remember seeing a picture last December of a single button flower arrangement online and I guess I never forgot about it.

During a normal grocery run at Walmart one Friday, I happened to walk by the button section (yes, they do exist)  when a bag of them with wonderful colors of all different sizes caught my eye. I wandered over to them, picked up the bag and as I held it in my hands, admiring what I saw, I became super excited to try to build what I had seen a few months before. I found a roll of craft wire and hurried home to see what I could come up with.

My first buttons

As I poured the buttons all out on the table, I became  hooked. How whimsical they were! I just couldn’t get enough! And, when I was done creating my first button flowers, I couldn’t believe my eyes! Had I just made that? Me? Not a crafty girl!! I’m not! I wasn’t…

You can see why its addicting…

My first finished buttons flower arrangements, ever!

The next day Chris ran out to Hobby Lobby and bought me two big bags of buttons and there I sat on a rainy Saturday afternoon creating this…

This is my very favorite arrangement. I only wish I could recreate it!

As I continued to build button flower arrangements, I kept realizing all of the different possibilities! And.as a realized the possibilities, to were they beginning to collect on our mantle…one our kitchen windowsill…on my bedroom nightstand…on the living room bookshelf…on the wall shelf at the front door…You get what I’m saying. We were to our ankles in button flowers! So, I bought this little caddy to carry my supplies in…

Button caddy…my office…?

And the thought of Etsy began to creep into my mind. I immediately thought of the name Jen Blossom as the perfect name for my shop! wondering if what I was up to was good enough to give it a try! We started practicing with the camera all the different ways to capture a natural shot of each arrangement. I love using Instagram, but it isn’t the true representation of what I create.

Well, I tried it and I’m here today to tell you that I’m bursting at the seams with excitement over it! I decided that I will name each of my creations, to give it a human feel, while also describing the arrangement. It makes it even more fun for me and besides, this is certainly not something I’m not unknown for…the naming of inanimate objects. Now I have a great and legitimate excuse!

The premier of my Etsy Shop! Yay!

Thank you for indulging me. I would love it if you wanted to stop by my Etsy Shop to take a peek of my very first five arrangements that I ever put for sale!
