I don’t think it’s such a bad thing if I kind of keep finding new things that peak my interest…such as new hobbies…um, new bandwagons to jump on, if you will…The way I look at it is this: The idea is always out there for something amazing, I’m just not ever the first stop that the band wagon makes, better yet, I tend to always miss the opportunity to be the driver!
Shall I explain? I recently began tooling around with making button flowers. I saw a picture of them on Pintrest one day and thought I could absolutely do that. So, I did! And, I love it! It doesn’t require math or puzzle solving…or math. š It allows me to use a creative outlet that I didn’t know I had and oh my goodness! They are so pretty (if I do say so myself!) Want to see a few that I threw together last week and over the weekend? Thanks forĀ indulgingĀ me!
So, I started out Friday with a small variety bag of different size and color buttons from Walmart.
I loved how they looked! I couldn’t believe how whimsical they were! Then I realized what the magic Instagram app could do for them! Cool, right?
Then on Saturday, my loving husband (per my request) went to Hobby Lobby to buy me some more buttons. You see, Friday night I became addicted to this button-flower-building-activity! I needed to see what other options I had! I spent all afternoon Saturday building one flower after the next, after the next. Our poor Eli was sick so we just layed low all day-which allowed me to take this time to experiment with all these buttons! Logan, my ever-blossomingĀ entrepreneur,Ā even got in on the building…all the while planning on how much he could sell them for! More on that another time…
So, after bedtime, while Chris watched Ocean’s Eleven, I couldn’t stop messing with all these button flowers I had made earlier and began wrapping them together with ribbon, then entertwining the ribbon among the button blossoms, when suddenly I realized I had something special here and I needed a vase and my light box (in that above picture)!
At 9 o’clock Saturday night I was busy snapping away shots of my new creation!
I couldn’t stop! The possibilities were endless and the colors so pretty!!
Oh my! Then I began to play around with the pictures I’d taken in my light box with Instagram and that just boosted my momentum!
I couldn’t help it! I was in disbelief that I could make all this happen with a few clicks here and another there!
Not only am I in love with the possibilities of using Instagram to enhance my photos in fun ways, but I went and collected a bunch more buttons today and I mean to tell you, the wheels in my brain are spinning and turning. I wish I had more time to work on building these button flowers!
Is it silly? Chris asked me what I would be interested in next week! He’s right, I do frequent new hobbies and interests, like I said before. But, you know, its OK. When I told him that this idea was not of my own brain, that I had seen a picture of it online, I felt just a pang of regret that I couldn’t have devised this all on my own. He told me that every idea is already taken. There is no new ideas out there. We just take ’em and tweak ’em to make them unique to our own.
That is almost true. My mom comes up with new ideas all on her own. Take her cake decorating idea for my guys yesterday:
Paper doll cut-outs of the guys, paper cut out of a boat, angel food cake cut in two, blue frosting, gummy fish, fishing line from the fishing game and viola! The boys got to put it all together for a fun dessert to take home! I wouldn’t have come up with that on my own. Way to go, Mom!
I hope my button flower gig keeps going. I love doing it and have many plans … but I will keep them under wraps for now…until they happen!
What are your favorite hobbies? Do you have any brilliant ideas for things that came from your own brain?
Your button flowers are darling. We have a lady at church that sells button flower bouquets. I can’t remember her name, but I think she might have a website out there in cyberland! You should check it out, maybe you could make it rich with this cute idea!
Those button flowers are really unique. I think it could be a great summer time activity for the kids too.. my 11 year old daughter would love to make something, Thank you for sharing!
Thanks, Jen! I’m so glad you like them! I am toying around with what I could do with them…but you know, one step at a time! š Miss you! Thanks for your sweet words! š
Thanks for stopping by, Bob! It is a really easy project. I can very much picture girls of your daughter’s age sitting around together making these!
