The Slow Walk

You heard it here, first, folks. This week’s episode of Hawaii Five-0 was the best one yet. In my opinion. And, I am declaring it as such not only because some of the intense action “what’s gonna happen” sequences actually made my heart race (this hasn’t happened before), but because they used the slow walk. Should I capitalize that? Here. How’s this? The Slow Walk. Better? The Slow Walk. There. I like that. Italics and capitalization give it the level of importance that it deserves!

I grew quite excited in the end when The Slow Walk occurred and Chris said, “You sure do love that Slow Walk, don’t you?” Oh my, YES! I do!

You know the walk I’m referring to right? It’s when the good guys have come together, usually towards the end of the story. They’ve overcome hardship and diversity. They are ready to pick up, dust themselves off and join together in a union of triumph! Look at this:

See what I mean? They wear a look of determination, exhaustion, heroism. A look that says, “Oh no you don’t want some of this! Just step away slowly, but keep watching cause you know how B.A. we are right now…”

Hehe! Something like that, right?

All this lead me to remember very fondly my most favorite Slow Walk ever, which looks like this:

Oh my word. As, promised, here is my A Knight’s Tale reference. Here we have William and his team, just having bravely announced that he would not run. They come around the corner, knowing he will be arrested and put in the gallows, but intent on facing one more joust against the unsightly Count Adhemar. If this scene does not make you a believer that these here cool cats are about to reign victorious, than you can stop reading right here.

I KID! Keep reading. I’m just trying to make a point. Here, I’ll just stop a minute to allow you time to enjoy the epic-ness of that photo and what is about to take place.

Ready to move on? I am. And, besides, you know what? Even if William doesn’t happen to win the joust, I say, who cares? (It would make for a lousy ending, I’m just saying, but these things happen.) He and his merry men have already proven how B.A. they are and they have already gone ahead and united in the bonds of triumph. A win would just be the icing on the cake!

So, listen, I’ve said it before, if dancing can’t be involved  around the settling of a dispute (see Early Movie Memories, Part 2 in the West Side Story reference) it MUST, without the shadow of a doubt be The Slow Walk.

Have you ever done The Slow Walk? I don’t know that I have. If I did, it would for sure have to be done to standard – like after I have overcome something major. Some examples I can think of are: 1. Exiting the garage to begin the walk to school in the morning 2. Leaving work after a long Friday night of Venti White Mochas and Iced Grande No-Whip Pumpkin Spice Lattes 3. After preparing a major meal in the kitchen, better yet, after I made (just barely) Upside Down Mini Apple Pies last weekend 4. Completing a long grocery-run at Walmart (ugh!) 5. Getting out of my warm cozy bed on a winter’s Monday morning! If only my Slow Walk would make me look as B.A. as those guys up there. At least I would feel that way!

When would you do The Slow Walk?
